Edged Weapons Seminar - Recap

 

Hello Wolfes members,

 

Thanks to those of you who participated in Wolfes' Edged Weapons Defence seminar last Sunday! Our first seminar of 2012 had a great turn out with just over 20 students and 5 instructors. There was a wide range of experience in the room and we saw a few familiar faces- current and former Wolfes students- and even had a some non-members show up to learn Wolfes' essential tactics to surviving an edged weapons attack. I was particularly happy to see a few ladies sign up and train some very important skills!

Lead instructors Dennis and Jason did a great job explaining the techniques and breaking it down for everyone, while assistant instructors Colin, Shanda and I helped to provide on-on-one coaching whenever needed. The class was fast-paced with a lot of material to cover, while maintaining a progressive skill development in a safe, friendly and fun atmosphere.

Everyone had a great attitude and I saw a lot of smiles mixed in with the sweat and sidewalk chalk... a personal highlight for me was being "stabbed" with a chalked-up training knife and walking away with pink chalk on my arms (at least I didn't take it in the guts)! Our 3-hour seminar seemed to fly by and it was definitely a lot of fun and a positive learning experience for me and I'm sure for everyone else in the room! I'm just glad I took some video (coming soon to our Youtube channel!) to help remember all the lessons Dennis and Jason taught... and now the next step is to review and practice, practice, practice!

The course definitely provided an excellent kick start to my edged weapons defense training for the year, and it was a great introduction to Wolfes intensive seminars. Look forward to seeing you all at the next one near the end of February (date TBA): Impact Weapons Defence!
